Faculty and Platform PartyThe Platform Party includes the UCI Chancellor, Executive Vice
Chancellor and Provost, Deans, distinguished speakers, student
speakers, Marshals, Readers and additional faculty from the school.
Any faculty member not participating in the ceremony requires a ticket for entry into the Bren Events Center. Faculty tickets may be obtained from their school’s academic counselors prior to Friday, June 12, 2009. - What time do I arrive? »

- Robing Room, located in the Koll Room on the lower level of the Bren Events Center.
- Where do I park? »
For undergraduate and The Paul Merage School of Business commencement ceremonies only : Parking Lot 6A, on the lower
level of the Bren Events Center, is held for faculty and
speakers. Traffic may be congested; if you live on campus, please consider walking or biking. Be aware
that you may be diverted to another lot due to traffic congestion.
Graduate Division commencement faculty: Park in the Mesa Parking Structure. For further information, please see the Graduate Division commencement web site. - How long is the ceremony? »
- Approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours,
depending on the number of graduates.

- Food and beverages will be available
in the Robing Room.

- Contact the UCI Alumni Association

- Who is in the Platform Party? »
- Chancellor, Executive Vice
Chancellor and Provost, deans, distinguished speakers, student
speakers, Marshals, Readers and additional
faculty. They are led down the center aisle and onto
the stage.
- Who and what are the roles of the Marshals? »
- Marshals are faculty – with
the exception of the Mace Marshal who is a member of the
Alumni Association Board – who lead their particular group
down the aisles. The University Marshal (second person
down the center aisle following the Mace Marshal) opens
the ceremony with a few scripted words. The Bachelor’s Marshal follows. The
Platform Party Marshal leads the Platform Party and faculty
down the center aisle and onto the stage.
- Who and what are the roles of the Readers? »
- Faculty members read the
names of Bachelor’s candidates as the graduates walk across
the stage to shake hands and have their photograph taken with
the Shaker.
- Who and what are the roles of the Shakers? »
- Shakers are the Dean and
Associate Dean of each School, who shake hands with each candidate after their name is read.
